Iron Smoothie

When my son Jonathan was about 18 months old we learned he had an iron deficiency. Our doctor prescribed Jonathan some liquid Iron Supplements to give him twice a day. Poor baby, the supplements tasted so bad!!! Not only did they taste awful, he couldn't keep any food down once we started him on the supplements. We knew we had to think of something different, because our baby throwing up everyday was just not ok....And then finally we figured out the easiest and yummiest way to get him to take his iron!!
 
 

SMOOTHIES!!


This smoothie has frozen blueberries, bananas, pineapple, orange juice, kale, and yogurt! YUM!! Of course we added some of the iron supplement as well - but if you don't need all of the iron kale or spinach will be sufficient. Sometimes we add flax or pumpkin seeds too. The orange juice we add
because it helps the body to absorb iron also. :)
 

As you can see Jonathan loves his smoothies, which makes for a happy momma and a healthy boy!
